Easy fan trays and the complaints they cause

Easy fan lashes sit on a strip that lets the artist pinch a fan straight from the tray. The technique is faster to learn than hand-building, which makes the format popular with newer volume artists and with salons adding volume to an existing menu.

Most complaints about easy fan trays are strip problems, not technique problems. If the tack is too strong, the fan tears when lifted; too weak and it opens before it reaches the lash. A tray that behaved in spring can misbehave in a humid August, because the adhesive on the strip absorbs moisture.

For buyers, the test is simple: lift ten fans from different rows and look at the bases. They should be closed, even, and free of adhesive residue. If the base is ragged, the set will look uneven no matter who applies it.

Is easy fan the same as pre-made?

No. Pre-made fans are already formed; easy fan trays let the artist pull a fan from a tacky strip.

Does it suit beginners?

It is the fastest route into volume, but the fan base still depends on the pinch. Expect a learning period of a few weeks.

Why do fans tear when lifted?

Strip tack is too high, or the tray has absorbed humidity. Ask for a fresh tray and store it sealed.
