How strip lashes reach 25 Zu 30 wears, and what usually ends them early
The number on the box is not marketing. It comes down to one component, and it is not the fibre.
The band is the part that fails
A strip lash is a row of fibre attached to a band. The fibre rarely fails first. The band does, because every wear flexes it, every cleaning wets it, and every removal pulls it away from the lid.
Twenty-five to thirty wears is what a well-made cotton or synthetic band survives when it is handled properly. Fifteen to twenty is what most buyers actually get. The gap is handling, not product grade.
What shortens life
- Pulling the strip off dry. The adhesive grips the band as much as the lid. Warm water or a remover first.
- Mascara. Coating the fibre means cleaning the fibre, which means more handling on the band.
- Rolling it into a ball. A strip stored folded keeps a fold.
- Rubbing the band. Cleaning between the lashes is fine. Scrubbing the band is not.
- Old adhesive. Glue left on the band hardens and cracks, and the band follows.
The routine that gets thirty
Remove. Hold the outer corner, peel from the outer edge inward, and let warm water or remover loosen the adhesive instead of pulling through it.
Peel the glue. Before washing, work the old adhesive off the band with fingertips. Warm water helps. Do not use tweezers on the band.
Wash. A drop of mild soap in lukewarm water, swirled. Not hot, because heat relaxes the curl.
Dry flat. On a paper towel, band down, in the shape you want it to keep. Never on a radiator or in direct sun.
Store. In the original tray or a case. A strip kept in its curve stays in its curve.
What to print on the pack
A reuse claim is only useful if the buyer knows what it takes. Three lines on the back panel do more for repeat purchase than a longer claim:
- Peel from the outer corner, never pull straight off.
- Remove old adhesive before each wear.
- Store in the tray, band down.
We print these on the insert when a retail brand asks, because returns on strip lashes are almost always a handling complaint dressed as a quality complaint.
When to replace, not repair
Three signs the strip is done: the band has lost its curve and will not sit flat, the fibres are clumping at the base, or the band is frayed at either end. At that point a new pair costs less than the client’s frustration.
This matters for retail brands as much as for wearers. A strip that fails at wear eight gets reviewed as a bad product, even though the failure is handling. Clear instructions protect the review score more than a heavier band would.
Questions from buyers
Is 25 Zu 30 wears realistic?
Ja, with removal in water, glue peeled between wears, and flat storage. Most returns come from pulling the strip off dry.
Does mascara ruin the strip?
It shortens life because cleaning the fibre means more handling. If your customers wear mascara, price the strip as a shorter-life product.
Can strip lashes be washed?
Ja, in lukewarm water with mild soap. Hot water relaxes the curl.
Do clear bands last as long?
Similar, but they show fraying later because the band is less visible. Inspect the ends.
What should the insert say?
Three lines: peel from the outer corner, peel old glue, store band down in the tray.
Does a heavier band last longer?
It survives more handling but sits less comfortably. There is a trade-off, and most retail ranges land in the middle.
Can I offer a reuse guarantee?
Only with printed care instructions, and even then a guarantee invites claims you cannot verify.
Do you print care instructions?
Ja, on the insert or the back panel, in your brand voice.
